No hiking involved this time, and this was a little side trip whilst on a short family holiday to visit the Western Plains Zoo, and see my daughter who is at CSU in Bathurst.
This was also my first solo SOTA. Whilst driving from Dubbo to Bathurst, I dropped the family off in Orange for some shopping and lunch, and made the short side trip to Mount Canobolas. The last time I was in Orange the road was closed due to snow, so I was keen to have a look.
I only had a short time on the summit, and with temperatures around 6ºC, a strong wind and drizzle, this didn't bother me too much.
End Fed, KX3 @ 15W.... 8 QSO's on 40m SSB only. Quite an easy 8 points, plus 3 winter bonus points.
