VK2/HU-047 Mount Warrawolong, 19/May/2020 by VK2NU/P
This was my third activation of this summit, but on the previous two occasions I did not take many pictures of the trip, so thought this would be a good opportunity to update things.
Bush Fires and Covid-19 meant this was my first SOTA for 2020!
Route |
I used the same route I had used the previous two times, but on inspection of the maps I have found a potential easier route following 'The Bar Trail' (slightly shorter and less up and down)!
Warrawolong Road |
Car Parking |
Warrawolong Road intersects with the Great North Walk |

Walking time a little less than 2 hours each way (taking it very easy).
Phone Coverage poor on Telstra and Optus (had to walk around the summit).
Contacts = 17 on 80-15m, with best DX JH1XMV on 15m CW.
First Attempt.... Mount Warrawolong, VK2/HU-047 09/May/2017 (VK2NU and VK2WFT)
Mt Warrawolong is located in the Watagan's less than an hours drive from home, and therefore a good place to start. There is a good 4WD track to the summit, but unfortunately I don't have a 4WD, and the gate at the intersection of Walkers Ridge Road and Warrawolong Road was locked, hence we parked the car here (Circled on map below).
The walk was about 4km each way, and is quite straightforward, if steep in places.
