VK2/CT-002, Mount Trickett (VK2NU/p 09/July/2017)

Another solo activation... This time took 30 minutes out from the drive from Bathurst to Jenolan Caves. With the family keeping warm in the car, this was to be another quick'drive-by activation'.

Activation zone just to the South of Edith Road

Access again is easy, and I parked the car in a cleared section of woodland just south of the road. there is a property directly across the road, with some communications towers located to the East.

Not wanting to upset 'the wife', I set-up quickly with the End Fed supported on a tree branch (thanks to a fishing weight and line), running at about 70ยบ angle.

Station location... Sign Post shows HASL, and Great Dividing Range

If you look closely, you will see the antenna matching transformer and coax cable...

Operating table, pen and logbook (not my best photo)

The clear skies in the photo are deceptive, and it was a freezing cold day, so a hasty 4 QSO's were made on 40m SSB/CW and we made a speedy exit. RF noise on 40m was awful from this location, and I assume this was caused by the towers (just out of shot, beyond the sign post, and around the corner).
