Summit is in the Kaputar National Park, simply follow the signs from Narrabri.

The park has three summits that can be accessed from Kaputar Road. this summit was selected as it was the first I drove past.

Trail marker in the carpark off Kaputar Road.

The trail is good quality, but contains many steps, and is steep in places. However the trail ends about 500m from the summit, which must be accessed by scrambling over bare volcanic rock.

The following eight photos were taken along the marked trail....

At the end of the trail, there is an information sign (sorry, no photo), and a clear view to the summit.

The summit is situated on one end of a saddle, with the other side being above the trail end.

Photo from the top of the saddle, with the end of the walking trail being in the centre of the picture.

Looking the other way, to the summit. The operating position was on the spur just below and to the right of the summit.

After climbing the summit, I decided to operate slightly below it, as I was suffering a little vertigo, and there was no way to support the squidpole. There is a slight spur below the summit with some short bushes, but even here I was unable to fit in a dipole, so had to go with an end fed inverted L (actually more like a inverted U!).

I made 7 QSO's on 40m CW, and then couldn't raise anyone on SSB or 20m, so packed up, just as a pair of Hikers were getting to the summit.

The scramble back had the disadvantage of allowing me to see how far it was if I slipped and fell....

Looking up from the trail end

 About 50m to the summit.

Towards the other other of the saddle.
